Quick Update

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that I possibly won’t be posting for some time. Due to the tornados that hit the Dayton region in Ohio this past Memorial Day, I have no internet and water right now, and the service I currently have on my phone is spotty at best. I hope to soon post some reviews of books that I have read recently, and other posts that I had planned.

Thanks,
Chelsea

November 2018 Unicorn Crate Unboxing

November 2018 Unicorn Crate: Literary Landscapes

The book included in this box was Light Between Worlds by Laura E. Weymouth. I am super excited to read this book, and home to get to it within the next few months. Along with the box is the usual included note and bookplate.

One thing that came in the box that is not featured in the picture, because I cannot recall where I put it is an enamel pin 'Landscape of Oz' that was created by Dust and Pages. I hope to locate it soon because it was a nice enamel pin, and I want to put it with my collection.

The next thing in the box was the Narnia Tote with artwork by Sweet Sequels with the quote "Always Winter, Never Christmas". I really love the tote and use it when getting library books.

Then there was a 'Rivendell House Blend' loose leaf tea, a blend of decaf earl grey, strawberry, vanilla, marigold, and raspberry leaves. I haven't tried it yet because I am not a huge tea person, and usually only have it when I am in the mood for it. Although, this one smells really good - and hopefully tastes just as good.

Then there are some awesome bookish socks, featuring Peter Pan with a quote that says "Stay Calm and Fly to Neverland" that were designed by Unicorn Crate. They are cute, but I am not a huge Peter Pan fan so I haven't really worn them.

Then the box included some awesome wax melts that are berry scented, and they smell amazing! They were created by LeeBrick, and if you want something that lasts awhile, these melts do.

The two last things in the box are an art print that is of the Prythian Map from ACOTAR, designed by Bookmark My Heart; and a bookmark that reads "Hogwarts s my Home", also designed by Unicorn Crate. Both series I have yet to read. I know shame on me.

September 2018 Unicorn Crate: Sisters Who Slay

The book that came in this box was Seafire by Natalie C. Parker. I have been intrigued with pirate novels since I read Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller, so I am ready to read this book whenever I get the chance. Along with the book came a note from the author, signed bookplate, and a tattoo that says "Sisterhood is Survival", that I have not yet used, but will at some point.

Unicorn Crate includes a Unicorn Themed item, and in this book it is the Book Buddies which I have not yet used, and don't know if I will because I just don't do that. Although, they are really cute, and a great addition if you do include notes in your book. They were created by Girl of All Work.

Then there is a bath bomb that is inspired by Princess Leia, which I used the night that I got this box, and I loved it. It smelled really good. The bath bomb was handmade by Fizzy Fury Apothecary.

My favorite item to come in a book box, the candle, is called 'Shield Sisters', which is a blend of Blackberry and White Sage. It smells amazing, and it is not super strong or overwhelming. This was inspired by Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young, a book that I am still deciding if I want to read.

The next item is a wooden bookmark of the 'Archeron Sisters', featuring Feyre, Nesta, and Elain from A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas, another series that I want to read a lot, but have yet to. The bookmark features custom artwork by Papercuts and Pages.

Then there was a 4-pin set, featuring custom art by Diana Dworak inspired by the Lunar Chronicles, which I am currently reading through. I use the Unicorn Crate bags that the books come in, so the pins are on the bag like in the picture.

There was also a pirate keychain included that I currently don't have anywhere specific, I am decided where I want to use it. I do like it though, and think it is a cute inclusion.

The last think in the box was an art print featuring Eowyn from Lord of the Rings, with the quote "I am no man", that was created by Michelle Dee.

August 2018 Unicorn Crate Unboxing

August 2018 Unicorn Crate: Unlikely Allies

The book that came in this book box was Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson. I have not read any of her books at this point, and before I read this book, I want to read the Remnant Chronicles series. Hopefully, since I have this book, it will encourage me to read that series so that I can pick up this book. Along with the book came a note from the author, signed bookplate, and a bookmark for the book.

Next in the box was the candle, 'Agnieszka and the Dragon', which was inspired by Uprooted by Naomi Novik, a book I really want to read also. Its a blend of sandalwood, rose, and embers of fire. It's a strong scent, sometimes I like it, and other times, I think its too strong.

'Ciara and Lief' lotion was the next thing in the box. I really love the lotion and use it quite frequently. It was inspired by Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake, a book that I just bought to read soon. This was handmade by Latherati.

After that, there were coasters that featured Zelie and Inan from Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. I love coasters but currently they are just sitting on my shelves unused at the moment. Once more, these are from a book that I have not read. These were custom art designed by Jo Painter.

The box also included a pillow cover that is inspired by Cruel Prince by Holly Black. The quote on the pillow cover reads "He's Flint, You're Tinder". I don't know what the quote references because I have not read the book, and really have no plan to. I do think the pillow cover is nicely designed, and I love the inclusion of a pillowcase in the box, even though I won't use it much because I'm not overly excited about it. The custom quote artwork was designed by Papercuts and Pages.

The last thing in the box was two sets of vinyl Legolas and Gimli stinkers, which are obviously from Lord of the Rings. I loved them, and gave one of the sets to my sister. The stickers feature art by Sharon De Leon.

November 2018 That Bookie Box Unboxing

November 2018 That Bookie Box

The book that was featured in this month's box is Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I was really excited to get this book because I have been wanting to read a Brandon Sanderson book for some time, and now that I own a book by him, I am definitely more likely to pick this up sooner rather than later.

Next in the box was the 'Skyward' candle. Its a blend of blood orange, berries, and white tea. Out of all of the candles that I have received in subscription boxes, this one is my favorite. The blood orange and berries are really prominent with just a hint of the white tea. It also has blue glitter on the top that shimmers when the wick is lit. The candle is from That Bookie Candles.

Beside the candle is a bookmark that is inspired by Illuminae. The bookmark reads, "Wonderfully noble. Beautifully human. Tragically stupid." I really loved the artwork and the quote on the bookmark, and have definitely used it since I have gotten it. The bookmark is from That Bookie Bookmarks.

Under the candle, is a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, which was inspired by Dare Mighty Things. I'm not the hugest fan of Salted Caramel, so I have not actually drank the cocoa yet. But I do like the addition of it in the box. I have no desire to read the book that this was inspired by.

Behind all of the bookish goodies is a theme inspired tapestry, which I think is amazing, but I also currently have nowhere to put it. It is a little wrinkled in the picture, but this was taken right after removing it from the box. I love this picture, it is absolutely gorgeous.

There was also one item not featured in the above picture, and that was Citrus-scented soap that was inspired by Empress of a Thousand Skies, because at the point of taking the first picture, I had already used the soap. It smelled amazing, and it was of really good quality. I have yet to read the book, but really want to.

March and April Wrap-Up and May TBR

During the months of March and April, I read a total of 4 books.

In March, I read one graphic novel: Kyrra: Alien Jungle Girl, which I thought was a good book, but it didn't really stand out compared to all of the other books that I have read.

In April, I read one graphic novel, Mera: Tidebreaker, which I was immensely disappointed in. I read this novel right after watching the movie, so I was super hyped, and I felt like it was lacking with character chemistry, plot, and it was different from the plot of the movie. I do want to say I don't know which was more accurate with the original graphics because I have not read them, but since my introduction to Aquaman is through the movie, I didn't like how this graphic novel was different. I also read a fantasy book told in verse called Bull. The last thing that I listened to in the month of April was the Boy in the Striped Pajamas, which I did enjoy but at the same time did not evoke as much emotion as the movie did, which I was expecting from the book.

So for the month of May, I have been in the mood for war novels, so there are a handful of books that I have picked that take place during a war. Two of the books that I have picked, I have started, and those are Lovely War and Book Thief, which also qualifies as a big book for my big book challenge (which I have been failing).

My other goal for the month of May is to crack down, and read the books that I have not finished yet, but want to. Below are some of the books that I want to get to during this month - I know I won't get to all of these (or I might since some of them I am decently far into the books and some are very short).
