Mid-Year Freak-Out Tag (2018)

I saw this first over at Spines & Covers. So for this tag, it's kind of a recap tag of what you have read and other book-related things of 2017 that apply to you with only half a year left for you to read. This one seemed very fun to do, so here I am. And I know, I'm a little late posting this since it's already the second week of July, but I still wanted to.

Best Book You've Read So Far in 2018
This is a hard question because there are a few books that I really loved reading this year, but since I have to pick one, I would say Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I absolutely love Amie Kaufman's books, and this was no different.

Best Sequel You've Read So Far in 2018
Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller was an amazing sequel, and one that I possibly loved even more than the original. I am sad that this duology is over.

New Release You Haven't Read Yet but Want To
Furyborn by Claire Legrand is a new release that I want to read and even bought, but haven't yet picked up. I hope to pick it before this year ends.

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year
I would have to say one of my most anticipated release that is upcoming would be Scream All Night by Derek Milman.

Biggest Disappointment
Not If I Save You First by Ally Carter. I was looking forward to this book so much, and I didn't enjoy it as much as I was hoping that I would.

Biggest Surprise
My biggest surprise was Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis. When I first heard about this book, and read the synopsis, I had no desire to read this book. And I don't even know why I ended up picking it up, but I am glad that I did because I loved this book.

Favorite New Author
I actually don't have a new favorite author. I did like a few like Mindy McGinnis, but because I don't like as much as I like of her books, I wouldn't consider her a favorite author. Maybe I will find a favorite author in the second half of the year.
Favorite New Crush
The guys from the Illuminae Files. The same guys that are also listed in the following question. Out of the three of them, Ezra is definitely my top new crush.
Favorite New Characters
This is an easy question for me. All of the Illuminae Files characters: Kady, Ezra, Nik, Hanna, Rhys, Asha, and Nik's cousin (whose name I can't remember right now sadly). I loved all of them. They were all amazing!
Book that Made You Cry
I Stop Somewhere by T.E. Carter and Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis. I was expecting I Stop Somewhere to be sad, but I was surprised by the sad parts in Madness So Discreet.

Book that Made You Happy
Diviners. I love this book, and the fact that it is set in the 20s.

Most Beautiful Book You've Bought So Far this Year
So instead of a single book, I am going to show a series that I just recently bought which have beautiful covers that I am completely obsessed with.

What Books Do You Need to Read Before the End of this Year
So many... too many... No books in particular though.
That was it! Doing this tag was too much fun, and I’m not tagging anyone because I want anyone who wants to try it to give it a go! Thank you!

June Wrap-Up and July TBR

In the month of June, I read a total of 2 books.

So compared to last month, I slowed down considerably, which was expected. I also listened to a lot of adult audiobooks this month, which is flipped from my normal reading habits - I usually get to more YA books compared to Adult books.

The two books that I finished this month were the final two audiobooks in the Burn for Burn trilogy, Fire with Fire and Ashes to Ashes. I overall really enjoyed this series, but I was not as impressed with how the series concluded. I have reviewed Fire with Fire, but I have not reviewed Ashes to Ashes.

In the month of July, there are a few books that I would love to get done, but my Adult TBR is really long and at this moment, I am feeling my Adult books more than I am my YA books, so July might look very similar to June.

There are four ebooks that I have started and would like to finish this month if I get to them, and they are Beneath the Sugar Sky, MARY: Unleashed, I Am Still Alive, and Daughter of the Burning City.
