I love the cover. I feel that it's very simplistic, and it gives a glimpse of what the art will look like on the inside.

Review:
Through the Woods by Emily Carroll was a very quick read that I finished within an hour, but that's understandable because it is a graphic novel. The art was beautiful, Emily Carroll is very gifted when it comes to her illustrations. The choices in color added to the story - some were very simplistic, while others had specific colors, and then others were in full color. It just depended on the story, and at some times, the point within the story.

Our Neighbor's House: ✮✮✮
This story was probably my favorite of all of the short stories in this novel. It was interesting, and it had me hooked from the beginning. I wanted to know what was going on. The art was amazing, and the colors were perfect for this story, and added a nice touch.

A Lady's Hands Are Cold: ✮✮✮
This was another of Emily's short stories that I loved. I thought it was unique and added a little layer of creepiness that I feel like the first book missed. The colors of the artwork popped out a lot in this book, but it definitely worked, because I loved looking at the art.

His Face All Red: ✮✮
This story was good, but it was a letdown after reading the other two books. It wasn't as creepy as I was expecting it to be. The art was great, and there was a full range of color in this story, but I felt like that might have been part of the problem with why I didn't enjoy the story as much because it didn't invoke the kind of emotions the previous short stories with their artwork did.

My Friend Janna: ✮✮✮
I enjoyed this book. It wasn't a favorite like the first two short stories had been, but it was great. I was intrigued. The illustrations were fantastic, and the creepy. There were more dark images in this story, and it once more added something to the story.

The Nesting Place: ✮✮
The Nesting Place was my least favorite of all of the stories. It wasn't a bad story, but I wasn't as invested in this story as I was the other stories. The artwork was still just as amazing, but it just didn't do much for me when reading this short story.

In conclusion, it was a wonderful read and I would love to read more short story graphic novels like this one more in the future. Such an overall fantastic book, with gorgeous artwork.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I totally forgot about this book. It's one I've been meaning to get to and October sounds like the perfect time. Now I need to alter my TBR.
