2022 Reading Goals and Challenges

Last year, I changed up how I want to challenge my reading during the coming year. I failed at it, but I still have a lot going on in my life and sometimes I was caught up in what was going on reality and didn't really take the time to keep up with my challenges. I am going to still hold to the layout of my challenges last year, but I wanted to do something a little different for picking my reading prompts. Although I am also going to challenge myself to complete the Jane Austen collection, but I'm not going to set it up as a bi-monthly challenge, and just have it be as a "whenever I pick it up" deal this year.

The other challenge I am doing is a TBR challenge, utilizing Owlcrate's et cetera game they included in one of their boxes last year. There are 48 different categories given (so spoilers for those who own the game but haven't gotten around to playing it), and each month I will pick 4 of those categories and try to find a book that fits. For example, there is a category that is books with love triangles - so fairly easy to pick a book for this category - but there are categories like fictional parents - for this I would pick a book that has a focus on relationships with parents or a thriller with parents trying to find their child. Since this is my own challenge for myself, I get to make the rules as long as I feel like it fits the category.

1. Read Jane Austen Challenge

During the course of 2022, read all of Jane Austen's books.

2. Owlcrate Game Challenge

Using the Owlcrate game, et cetera, use the categories to pick my TBR for the month.

3. Goodreads Challenge

Read 100 Books over the course of the year.

4. Complete One Readathon

I have a habit of starting readathons and not finishing them, so I would like to aim to complete at least one readathon this year.

August TBR and Wrap-Up

My Jane Austen book continuing into August is Emma.

My prompt for the month is to read a book that is over 500 pages, and once again, there are a few books that I would love to get to that fit this prompt: Witches Steeped in Gold or Blood & Honey.

I didn't include a TBR for the previous few months because I updated them after the months had passed. But here are some books that I would love to read during the month of August (along with catching up on previous prompts). There are also a few books included in this TBR that I started in the month of July and just need to finish reading.

During the month of July I completed a total of 4 books. I was really excited to finally get to the second Norroway graphic novel because I absolutely loved the first. Then I listened to the audiobooks for Poet X and Dangerous Path. Finally, I finished reading Flashfall, which was the book that I read with my sisters for our book club.

July TBR and Wrap-Up

My Jane Austen book for the months of July and August is

My prompt for the month is to read a book that has been adapted onto the screen. For this prompt, there are a few books that I'm going to throw out that fit this category that I would love to get to and those are Last Letter from Your Lover, Rebecca, or Woman in the Window.

During the month of June I completed a total of 2 books.

June TBR and Wrap-Up

My Jane Austen book continuing into June is Sense and Sensibility. This one isn't the most intriguing to me - I've seen almost all of the adaptations, and it isn't my favorite of her stories.

My prompt for the month is to read an author's debut novel, so I looked into my TBR to find a debut novel that I have on my list to read, and this is going back into the past, but I decided to read Ruta Sepetys debut novel, Between Shades of Grey.

During the month of May I completed a total of 3 books. I didn't get a lot read this month, and I have so much to catch up on reading wise, but I'm hitting another slump so I'm honestly not expecting to get a lot done.

Waiting on Wednesday: 2021 June Scheduled Releases

These are the five books that I am waiting on the most that will be published in the month of June - so much that every single one of these books happens to have been pre-ordered by me. The one that I am looking forward to reading the most out of these five is Daughter of Sparta

So I've Been Gone...

Sorry I haven't been posting recently. Back in March, I hit a reading slump because I read a lot of books. I was worn out mentally from all of the reading, and then there was a lot happening in my personal life. Then my dog got sick, and he's still pretty sick - my vet and I are trying to figure out what's going on because his bloodwork numbers don't really make sense.

So I've gotten a little behind in keeping up with my postings - and I had a lot that were already pre-set up (I have pre-set up posts all the way until December) that I update as I go through the current month before the post goes live. I will be going back and hopefully by Monday I will have a post with all of the links to previous posts that went up automatically that I never got around to updating, completely updated with information.

I'm still not going to be as active as I was earlier this year. My main priority right now is getting my dog better. But he was put on some medication and he seems to be doing better than he was, I might have a little more free time on my hands to read.

So with that said, I'll just fill you in on some books that I am currently reading right now. I should be wrapping up Night is Watching soon, and hopefully I will be starting Behind Her Eyes (I'm trying to read it before watching the show, but that might not happen).

May TBR and Wrap-Up

My Jane Austen book for the months of May and June is Sense and Sensibility.

My prompt for the month is to read a book that has been on my TBR for over a year (and was published so no books that have been on my TBR that just came out). I'm trying to complete reading my physical books so the book I'm picking will be from my own physical collection TBR, and the book I chose is one of my Book of the Month books which I'm also trying to tackle getting read and that is Fountains of Silence.

Two books that I would love to complete in the month of May are Blade of Secrets and Wicked Conceit.

During the month of April, I completed a total of 0 books sadly.
