Chloe was three years old when she became Chloe Holden, but her adoption didn’t scar her, and she’s had a great life. Now, fourteen years later, her loving parents’ marriage has fallen apart and her mom has moved them to Joyful, Texas. Starting twelfth grade as the new kid at school, everything Chloe loved about her life is gone. And feelings of déjà vu from her early childhood start haunting her.

When Chloe meets Cash Colton she feels drawn to him, as though they're kindred spirits. Until Cash tells her the real reason he sought her out: Chloe looks exactly like the daughter his foster parents lost years ago, and he’s determined to figure out the truth.

As Chloe and Cash delve deeper into her adoption, the more things don’t add up, and the more strange things start happening. Why is Chloe’s adoption a secret that people would kill for?

Review:
If you are looking for a novel with an air of mystery and romance, this is the book for you. Chloe's life has taken a sudden twist as her life gets uprooted and she moves to a new town. What is already hard under the circumstances takes a turn for the worse when she finds out her life may be more of a lie that she would ever have suspected.

In Another Life is a quick and easy read, I listened to the audiobooks, and it took me a day to finish it. It alternates between Chloe and Cash's perspectives. Personally, I didn't think there was much suspense or twists that you won't expect, but I went in expecting to not be super surprised by anything, so that wasn't a letdown.

The romance in the novel was definitely more of an "insta-love" relationship, but I still liked it. I also really enjoyed both of the main character's, and was glad that I was able to see both of their perspectives. The topics in the novel are also topics that many teens can relate to: divorce, relationships, adoption, etc.

There were a few things that I wasn't a fan of. Specifically, the amount of focus on both Chloe's and Cash's appearances. It felt like every time they saw each other, they mentioned how "hot" they thought the other was. This doesn't normally bother me, but I felt that it was overly mentioned. But all in all, this book was good and it held my attention from the beginning to the end.

I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a decent mystery that is a quick read.
