So technically (like usual) I did not actually get tagged, but I just enjoy doing tags so much that I'm gonna do this one also. I also don't post my tags on tag Tuesday (obviously, since it's Wednesday), but I'm again doing it anyway.

Phase 1 - Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover

Shades of Darkness by A.R. Kahler. Still have no idea what this book is about, and honestly, I probably won't even look to find out, just jump in and discover. I do this on occasion.

Phase 2 - First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary

Let's see, I typically (but no always) get my books based off of their summary, but the most recent purchase I made based on the summary would have to be A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab.

Phase 3 - Sweet Talk: A book with great writing

I'm going to go with a book I just finished reading, that I loved the writing of, and that would be Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia. You can check out my review here if you missed it. This would potentially be the kind of book I would buy based solely on the cover.

Phase 4 - First Date: The first book of a series which made you want to pursue the rest of the series

If you've followed or seen a few of my posts, you will probably have guessed what I put here. And that is Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. I just loved this book, and am currently reading Windwitch! Finally!

Phase 5 - Late night phone calls: A book that kept you up all night long

Hmm... technically the last book that kept me up reading all night was Lovely Reckless, but I don't want to list that twice, so I have to go way back (I like the Hardback Hoarder like my sleep, and with my class schedule, I wake up before 7 almost every morning... I really just don't have the option of staying up), and the book that I remember staying up for is Some Boys by Patty Blount.

Phase 6 - Always on my mind: A book that you could not stop thinking about

Again, most recently would be Lovely Reckless because, well, it was really good... another would be A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro because I really enjoyed this book also.

Phase 7 - Getting Physical: A book in which you love the way it feels

I am not going to list one book for this because I have quite a few books that feel this way, but I love the hardbacks with the dust jacket that feels kind of rough. Don't know why, don't ask, I just do!

Phase 8 - Meeting the Parents: A book in which you would recommend to your friends and family

This is kind of easy because everyone in my family who reads, I recommend books to all the time and the majority of my friends read, and again, I talk books with them and recommend them all the time books all the time. I would recommend Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (which technically I haven't finished but am in the process of reading and I love it!)

Phase 9 - Thinking about the future: A book or series that you know you'll re-read many times in the future

A series that I will reread in the future. That would easily be the Article 5 series by Kristen Simmons because they are an absolute favorite of mine!

Review:

I'm really glad that I decided to give Kami Garcia's books another chance (could not get into Beautiful Creatures), and didn't think I would ever pick up another book by her. If I hadn't, I would have missed out on a fantastic story. I highly recommend this book (especially if the concept of street racing in a ya book sounds really exciting).

I loved how real this story was, it was raw and emotional, and just absolutely well-written. This is the kind of story that hooks your attention from the beginning, and does not let go. The pacing of the story was perfect. The plot was fantastic, it wasn't like anything I have ever read.

I loved the characters. Sofia was absolutely adorable. And I'm a sucker for the bad boy (whose also a really nice guy) and the good girl (who had somewhat of a bad streak herself). The characters were just amazing, and flushed out. They were flawed, and that is one of the things I really enjoy in a story, when the main characters have as many flaws as they have good characteristics. I didn't love Abel or Lex, but I did think they were a good addition to the story. But I did love Cruz. I thought she was pretty kickbutt, but with a nice side, at least one she shows to Frankie.

It was for the most part a really quick read. If you have the time, it is the kind of book that you could easily read in one sitting. I thought it ended really nicely, and overall the book was wonderful. The one thing I wished didn't happen, not in the book but for me, is that I figured out something (I feel quite early on in the story... definitely way before it was mentioned), and I would have liked it being more of a suprise.

Jubilee Express: ✮✮✮✮
This was a quick, but cute short story. I really enjoyed the relationship that developed between Jubilee and Stuart, and Stuart's family. I loved both Rachel (even though she wasn't in the story that much) and Debbie (who was probably my favorite character in the whole story). I thought it was quite funny, the story had me chuckling throughout. Loved it!

Cheertastic Christmas Miracle: ✮✮
So I was debating whether or not to give this one three stars, but I settled for two because I just overall didn't like the constant sexism. I do get that it was meant to be played off lightly, and that some of it was to drive the story, but I just thought it was overdone, and it was slightly annoying at times. I really didn't like any of the characters except for the Duke. I could care less about the "love story" in this short story. It was another quick read, and if you love John Green's novels, you would probably also like this story (the only John Green book I have read (An Abudance of Katherines), I didn't like... maybe John Green books just aren't for me...)

Patron Saint of Pigs: ✮✮✮✮
I really enjoyed this short story also. It really rounded out all of the stories. It was another cute, quick read that made me smile. I felt for Addie as she discovered things about herself that she didn't realize before, and grew throughout the story. I wasn't as excited about the romance in this story, but it didn't really happen to the end, and it was easy to see that there was some focus of the story that was on Addie being the kind of person that she would be proud of.
